My blog mistakes Part 2

  • 1 Comment... Have your say!

In part 1 of this post series I recounted the main mistakes that I had made when I started out on my blogging journey.  In this part I will outline the changes that I have made and will make in the future.

The changes

The first big change I needed to make, was to figure out what I was doing with Samba Consulting.  Well, after 6 months of hard work I have finally got Samba in a position that I want it.  It was a tough process re-engineering the business, but I feel confident that it will work.  You can read more about Samba on our new website here

So having sorted Samba out, I now have some more time to focus on this blog.  The first thing was to map out what I wanted to write about.  My main areas of interest are as follows:

  • Technology
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Small Business topics
  • Outsourcing

As technology is so closely aligned to the work we do at Samba, I felt that I should move the technology related content to a new blog located here.  This I feel works better for both this blog and the samba blog.

This blog will now focus on the Affiliate marketing, small business, outsourcing and the odd general ramble.

So having sorted out the topics, I now needed to draft out who the blog was aimed at.  I spent several hours scoping out the ideal reader and to be honest I am still making some tweaks.  Having said that, the summary is as follows:

The blog is aimed at anyone who has an interest in Affiliate marketing and wants to follow my journey as a newcomer to the affiliate marketing business.  The small business and outsourcing content is ideal for anyone who wants to take the plunge and setup a small business, either online or offline.

Simple and to the point!

The other changes are more personal traits that I need to work on, however with time and with this blog being more focused I am confident that these areas will improve.

Credits

I have had some tremendous help over what has been a very challenging year so far.  Main credit goes to Iain Gray from the Results Academy who has worked tirelessly to help me sort out Samba – Thanks Iain

I also want to thank Darren Rowse from Problogger who publishes the excellent book “31 days to build a better blog“  It truly is a great read and worth the $19.95

There we are, I have made some mistakes but at least I have some learnt some valuable lessons and now have the focus to make this a success.

Thanks for reading……
